Sport Scuba Diving

Learning how to dive is a very rewarding experience. The training duration is flexible and the training standards are based on how well you perform and how comfortable you are in the water. A good number of certified divers actually were non-swimmers, some even had slight physical disabilities, when they took  up  diving. But because they were comfortable in the water and willing to learn, they were able to pass the training requirements, got certified, and as added bonus, later on became good swimmers.  As there are factors that could interfere with your plans to complete the training requirements, your choice of a training site should be based, not only on aesthetics, comfort, and convenience, but also on the site's strategic location where there's less chances of bad weather spoiling your diving holiday plans. Mararison Island's location and its proximity to a major town makes it stand out as an ideal place to start and complete a scuba diving course. Here's a...

Mararison  Island was a  55 hectare  island until a devastating typhoon in 2013 drastically reduced its land area facing the southern side by at least ten (10) hectares and in the process destroyed many structures, mainly residential houses and also the island's primary school.  Typhoon Yolanda altered the physical and aesthetic characteristics of the affected area and substantially, but positively ,  changed the environmental integrity of the whole island .   It  eventually led to the introduction and rise of the island’s tourism industry, bringing with  it  better income opportunities for the islanders   and for the visitors, many  ecotourism activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, helmet diving, island boat tour, swimming, trekking, and camping.  Accommodation and meals are reasonably priced. Refreshments can be bought from a handful of sari  sari  or convenience  stores on the island. At the present tim...

Scuba Diving Concerns

For most people, scuba diving is only for the adventurous, thrill-seeking, and financially stable guys -and gals, too. They think that it is one of the most difficult, and time-consuming activity or recreational sport to learn. Even before a person decides to give it a try, there are already certain factors that make him think a lot before doing so. Many fear that the underwater world is a dangerous environment to be in, with stories about big menacing creatures like sharks, salt-water crocodiles, and what else, just waiting for a diver or any unwary body to descend into their turf and be swallowed whole. Nonsense! They are partly the reason why more people are learning to dive, to encounter such creatures in their natural, uniquely beautiful environment.
