Learning how to dive is a very rewarding experience. The training duration is flexible and the training standards are based on how well you perform and how comfortable you are in the water. A good number of certified divers actually were non-swimmers, some even had slight physical disabilities, when they took  up  diving. Mararison  Island was a  55 hectare  island until a devastating typhoon in 2013 drastically reduced its land area facing the southern side by at least ten (10) hectares and in the process destroyed many structures, mainly residential houses and also the island's primary school.  Typhoon Yolanda altered the physical and aesthetic characteristics of the affected area and substantially, but positively ,  changed the environmental integrity of the whole island .   It  eventually led to the introduction and rise of the island’s tourism industry, bringing with  it  better income opportunities for the islanders   and for the visitors, many  ecotourism activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, helmet diving, island boat tour, swimming, trekking, and camping.  Accommodation and meals are reasonably priced.
